I graduated from the University of Louisville Equine Industry Program in 2006 and was the founder of the Thoroughbred Racing Club which I led as president until graduation. During my time at UofL I was also involved in the founding of Women's Polo Team, the first intercollegiate team in the state of Kentucky.
I also interned at Churchill Downs, Keeneland, Ellis Park, River Downs, Turfway Park and Hoosier Park while I was a student and my first job after graduation was at Remington Park Racing Casino as a racing official and later simulcast coordinator. During the off-season between Remington Park's Mix/QH and Thoroughbred race meets I spent 6 weeks in South Africa for 2007 Durban July Handicap.
I am currently attending American University in Dubai's MBA program, planning on a concentration in International Marketing/Management to graduate in May 2010. I completed a seasonal position at Dubai Racing Club coordinating sponsorship of Best-Turned-Out horse award with representative from Al Basti Equiworld and allocating trophies to the winning connections during Nad al Sheba's final race meet.??At the current Meydan meet I am blogging for http://dubairacenight.com/. If anyone is coming to Meydan for its inaugural Dubai World Cup, send me an email!
I also spent last summer gaining experience in horse racing in Asia and met with racing executives at the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Macau Jockey Club, Penang Turf Club (Malaysia) and Singapore Turf Club. I am completing my MBA thesis on the development levels of horse racing industries in Asia and the Middle East. Who knew there was horse racing in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, among others? I've also visited the racetracks in Qatar and Bahrain.
