Hello, members of HRG, and thank you for the opportunity to get to know the members of the group. :)
I'm based in Saratoga Springs, New York, USA--the home of America's oldest and most beautiful Thoroughbred race course.
I won't bore you with the details--they span 50 years--but I'm a fanatic about horse racing (Thoroughbred and now, Arabian, also)--and seven years ago was blessed to discover that the writing I'd been doing as a freelancer should be directed to my passion for horses.
I'm the Editorial Director of Equicurean magazine and of www.equicurean.com. I turfwrite for Saratoga Today (www.saratogapublishing.com) newspaper during the Saratoga meet and other occasions. (Dubai World Cup; Triple Crown; Breeders' Cup--etc.) I have two equine-themed blogs,
www.equicurean.com/blog is the new one, The Alpha Mare Speaks and
www.saratoga.com/horse-racing-blog , Mairzy Doats .
I'm also a devotee of a beautiful magazine, Galopp Magasinet. ("Galopp" in Swedish means, "horse racing.") GM is the most beautiful equine magazine I've ever seen--you needn't speak or read Swedish to love it. (Although I hear rumors that they're going international, soon.) Check it out--I'm a professional in equine publishing, and I am utterly mad about this uniquely gorgeous magazine. www.galoppmagasinet.se
Yes, I've been a horse racing fan for 50 years--since I was four years old, a racing essayist only seven of those years...but they've been the BEST seven years of my Life, so far. :)
Thoroughbreds are my passion--my obsession--but in the last year-and-a-half, I've become very interested in Arabian horses and racing, and now I love that beautiful breed, the very foundation of all Thoroughbreds. I would like to see more active dialogue between the two sports--it would benefit everyone, in the long run.
That's about it about me, for now. It's great to meet you all--drop a line, anytime!
